Grant Application – Engelstad Foundation

Nevada Organizations: The Engelstad Foundation Community Support

The Engelstad Foundation wants to support the important work that your organization does in our community.  There are resources out there that can help your organization to reach its goals and continue your work in the community.

The Engelstad Foundation has partnered with Nevada GrantLab to offer an important resource to non-profits of all sizes and areas of expertise at no cost. We encourage all Nevada organizations to take advantage of this opportunity.

A Message from the Engelstad Foundation Trustees

The Engelstad Foundation hopes that this message finds everyone well. We are honored to be writing this and deeply appreciate the valuable work of our partners for the past 21 years!

A new year and new generations evoke lots of inspiration, change, and clarity. This appetite for future aspirations has pushed the Engelstad Foundation board to reassess our funding priorities. As the next generation has come into the fold, we want to take the time to be intentional with our future goals. We have hired two consulting firms to guide this journey.

The Engelstad Foundation has decided that for calendar years 2024 and 2025, we will only consider grant requests from organizations that we have given to in the past 2 years. We acknowledge that this decision may impose challenges for some organizations, and we genuinely regret any inconvenience. Please understand that this decision is final. However, it does not preclude the possibility of reconsideration in the future. We plan to reopen these conversations in 2026 with a clearer vision of where to go.  Our goal with this message is to be transparent to our community as we move forward. We encourage you all to explore alternative funding opportunities from other sources and believe that with your dedication, you will be able to continue providing services to those in need.

Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and patience. This decision will hopefully pay off for future communities and allow us to be a stronger partner. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Allison Lewis at alewis@engelstadfoundation.org. Here is to a bright future!

Best,
Erin McGarry
Chief Granting Officer

Are there any projects that the Engelstad Foundation will not fund?
The Engelstad Foundation prioritizes organizations that have a presence in Southern Nevada. Applications from organizations outside of Southern Nevada are by invitation only. The Engelstad Foundation does not fund projects that take place outside of the United States. Grants will not be awarded to cover consultant fees.

As a private foundation, grants are awarded based on the desires and judgement of the Trustees and the Engelstad Foundation does not share information with grant applicants about how determinations are made.

How often can my organization apply for a grant from the Engelstad Foundation

Please refer to the message from our Chief Granting Officer for more information.

Organizations can apply once per year for a grant from the Engelstad Foundation. If your organization has submitted a grant application previously, you can submit another application starting from one year after the date on your prior application, whether your grant request was approved or not.

Does my organization need to report back to the Engelstad Foundation if a grant is awarded?
Yes, the Engelstad Foundation requires financial reporting from our grantees. When an organization is awarded a grant, the reporting requirement timeline is spelled out in the grant letter they receive. Failure to report grant funds usage could result in revocation of grant funds and/or the ability to reapply for a future grant.

Can my organization apply for multiple, separate projects?
Organizations that would like to apply for multiple projects can submit one application that covers their requests in a cohesive manner. Only one application per organization will be accepted for the Trustees to review.
